The SEC has approved FINRA’s new streamlined Outside Activities Rule

The new FINRA Rule 3290 was approved by the SEC on September 15th. As previously announced, this new rule will replace Rule 3270 – Outside Business Activities of Registered Persons and Rule 3280 – Private Securities Transactions of an Associated Person. This new rule will also eliminate the reporting of non-investment related activities.

FINRA will announce the effective date of this rule change in an upcoming regulatory notice.
