FINRA recently proposed transitioning the temporary Remote Inspections Pilot Program to a permanent framework before the program’s scheduled expiration in June 2027. This voluntary pilot program has allowed member firms to satisfy their regulatory branch inspection obligations by conducting remote inspections rather than onsite inspections, provided that specified risk assessment criteria are met. Member firms that elected to participate in the pilot program must maintain written supervisory procedures addressing branch office reviews, including remote inspections and related risk assessments. Participating firms are also required to collect and submit required inspection and risk data to FINRA on a quarterly basis.

FINRA will be submitting this proposal to the SEC for approval.
